I swear if I hear another Christmas song I'm going to go mad.
Just tried to change my blogskin like 3 hours ago, and the damn thing is telling me that the html thingum was not well formed even though I copied it off the damn website. EDIT ok I changed it, but not to the one I wanted, since this is just a default template that admittedly looks a lot better than the previous one.
Came back from ---- like 2 weeks ago, quite uneventful, just an opportunity to relax and vegetate in the hotel room (a lot) after a strenuous week just before I flew off.
Came back just in time for group celebs. Actually not -just in time-, since I just arrived from the freakin' airport and I had to rush to vivo to the monorail station and since I'm damn swaku I haven't been to Vivo before (shopping's not my thing) and I couldn't find the bloody monorail station where everyone was waiting and when I finally did I saw the monorail which everyone had just boarded. And it was leaving. So being extremely tyco and I had to buy a ticket and board the next one and managed to catch up with the guys who just arrived at Beach Station at Sentosa. Some horseshoe and briefing stuff, free time till when, where not to go etc.
Sec 2s embarked on a project to build a series of holes (near the sea). Actually it started as digging a whole and realising that after digging deep enough it would magically fill with water so we started digging a hell lot of holes (3) and dug canals through, then we dug a final canal to the sea that both drained and filled the holes with water. Had some cool architecture going on there, but eventually we had to go for the special event of the day.
First Task, photo taking. Bleh.
Second Task, each patrol dig a hole large enough to fit a person. Essentially, a grave.
Third Task, send one volunteer up. (ME, again, wtf)
Fourth Task, choose a J1.
Fifth Task, J1 and unfortunate-volunteer have a competition. Each person has to do the number of pushups that corresponds to the number of letters in his post/name. So Since mine is Project Comm Chair, and FRANCIS' IS STL, yeah so naturally I won (fat hope). Cunning J1s made sure that all the unfortunate-volunteers lost this "competition".
Sixth Task, lie down in the hole.
Seventh Task, chuck a bit of sand on yourself.
Eight Task, patrol to BURY THE UNFORUNATE-VOLUNTEER IN THE SAND.
And thus because I am extremely unlucky/unfortunate/stupid, I had to be buried in the sand and I didn't have a change of clothes. Which we were all supposed to have, but since I am the above-mentioned adjectives, I didn't. So I got buried in sand and it was damn ticklish and damn scary then eventually they took a picture then since I didn't have a change of clothes my patrol didn't help me wash up (ie, dunk in sea) so I did that on my own. Had to borrow Sean's shirt to change, so thanks! Still haven't returned it though.
Then after some semblance of removing the sand from EVERY-FREAKING-PLACE-ON-MY-BODY (-.- don't overwork that mind of yours) we had postholders announcement. I'm owl PL (owl '11 ftw) and NIGEL AS MY APL YAY. Lol I swear Nigel is damn funny and damn random and thanks for the two electrolytes during GTC :D it tasted like shit.
It's now Tuesday at 7:10pm and it's four days to Christmas and eleven to the New Year. I'll update again on New Year's eve. :D I hope.

Done and (dusted? More like blistered)
GGTC is over. Whole body foaming.
Started off on day 0 (sunday) with a lot of last minute stuff, contact lists, rations etc in preparation for the big day where all our ScoutySkillz will be put to an extreme test of endurance. Damn drama.
Day 1. Reported at some field in the middle of nowhere (landed property, near serangoon MRT). Final last minute organising, then the first horseshoe which signaled the beginning of the end. Actually after the end there is a new beginning, which is today as I post this and I sit on my chair to move around because my legs GGed.
Inspection. Inspected on the second try (due to rain? I hope) but later on had to redo simply (at least that was what I thought) for the sake of redoing and to add on to the general foam. Brought about 4 plastic bags with me for dirty (hurhur dirt) clothes, but at the end of inspection ended up with about 10. Given our checkpoints and an egg, which will be elaborated in further detail later on. Set off, at first super slow, slow like sotong. Reached checkpoint 2 super late, like around 12-1pm plus. On the way to checkpoint 2 it started to rain damn heavily, then everywhere got rain. Sought shelter in some HDB after correctly guessing (ie, anyhow hantam) the checkpoint. Made poor Wilson go out into the rain to draw the checkpoint map, since I'm just awesome that way.
Had lunch there I think, I can't really remember because the past 4 days have been a complete blur of haz recollections, nothing too specific other than some memorable things that happened. Such as the aforementioned (omg nice sounding word) egg which each patrol had to carry safely to the nightpoint. Suffice to say, 0/6 eggs made it back intact. Our egg exploded in Sean's shirt pocket, which was pretty awkward, especially since he had to use my waterbottle to wash the shit off his shirt and my bottle ended up smelling of egg. So we hiked super slow, then reached checkpoint 4 at around 8pm. At that point Wilson started foaming due to cold (I can't remember what the condition is called and I'm too lazy to find out) so he was picked up. Then we were given a choice. Either we walk from Khatib MRT and bash and chiong all the way to the nightpoint, or we take the MRT to Sembawang (which shaves off about 5km) and clear 50. Quite a simple choice actually. Reached the end point, horseshoe, pumping, sleep in nice dormitory. Did sentry with random people, ended up 2 hours of sleep. Yay for planning ahead.
The next day we tried to hike faster, but after checkpoint 2 were really demoralised by the mega long 10km route to checkpoint 3. At that point it was mid-day and it was super hot so its extra degen and we had to keep taking rests at bus stops along the way. Eventually we reached the checkpoint and had lunch which was super nice cuz we had nata which was super nice after that mega long 10km route. Then after that was more foaming as we tried to continue, but the rain started to cause us to foam. Soaking wet clothes + super strong wind = bloody cold. Shivered, SHAKING in a void deck for about an hour and a half to wait for the rain to stop. I've never actually experienced something that cold. It wasn't just shivering, I could barely talk because every part was SHAKING. And it was virtually uncontrollable. It's like taking a shower then without drying yourself standing in front of a fan at high speed. AFter the rain stopped we eventually piaed all the way back to nightpoint cuz can sleep mah. So all happy happy.
Then we had nightcall. Actually this nightcall was damn slack. Only need to take all our bags then lump in some pile then run here run there pump a bit kenna shouted at then can liao. Breakfast, checkpoints, (inspirational? nah) talk by mr yuen about not dropping out of the hike then we started walking. walkwalkwalkwalk until damn far. Second checkpoint was Faber point, right at the tip of mount faber and the walk up there was super foam. Right after that checkpoint was Fort canning which is another some damn high hill. Foam.
Here's a short summary of the three days of hike.

Eventually we reached the end then we had dinner at J8 which was super nice. Musn't have been pleasant for the other people around. Some stinkbomb walk into J8 then kope all the chairs then leave all the stains and shit behind.
Then at night me, nigel and weiteng were doing sentry cause we wanted to be awake when the nightcall was called. Actually before that we were joking that nightcall is like phoning someone at night, cuz night call hurhur. So obviously we were all super tired after 90+km of foam so we slept in 2 minute shifts. When nightcall was called we all started foaming, then we went to RJ basketball court to do inspection for about 3 hours, which is super foam.
Then was breakfast, then was watching (holyshitsoimba) STLs do inspection and show the noobs how it's properly done. Then was PT, which was just a way to clear our (at that point) 1.5k count. Then sec 2s built a lot of bashas and we cleared some then we had another inspection then we cleared more then we had some random shit then we had final horseshoe then final 200 pumping then end of camp.
At the end of the camp I received some award for the best trainee, prize was the whistle comprised of parts by kenneth and francis. Frankly I don't know why I got it cuz I felt that other people actually deserved it more than me, but bleh, I got it all the same. More pressure to live up to expectations for next year? Hope I can tahan.
After GTC I felt this mega sense of accomplishment (not to mention people who wanted to come over and say "wah damn pro ah best trainee sia") that I completed the camp. All will be clear if you read the post before this. At the end my (battle?) wounds included - seven blisters, super mega slightly infected graze on my knee which kenneth thought was just some surface wound, twisted ankle, aching shoulders and super mega sunburn. All these will go away but deep down I think I've learned a lot more about my limits and what I can do. At times I seriously considered giving up (especially when I got that super mega slightly infected graze) but I'm glad I didn't do so.
Felt that this year my batch were actually quite good in terms of individual skill/standard, but I guess there's a lot more to improve on in terms of helping others, taking initiative etc. Like what francis said, the sec2s inspection damn good then the sec1s one like sai. Maybe we could have helped them a little more? I don't really know.
Started this post on Thursday when I came back, and now it's 11.18 on Saturday. Flying off on Monday to ----, coming back on Friday hopefully in time for group celebs.

GTC in 35 hours 25 minutes. Nervous, apprehensive, dreading etc. Really damn scared, especially inspection which is so fun <----- if you can't sense sarcasm go die in a fire.
Luckily this year it's only four days, and especially given last year's embarrassing drop out by ME I really hope I can actually complete it this year. Will come back on thursday, friday is RnR, weekend is rushing hike log, then i'm flying off to a certain country. Will (hopefully) update after that.

EoEoY
If you look back into my previous posts, by scrolling down a hell lot, you'd find a post with the same title. Alternatively, you could press ctrl + F and type EoEoY, in which case you'd have to press enter 4 times before you get to the above mentioned post, since there is 2 extra EoEoY(s)which have occured since the title of this post.
Exams are over. Results have come back. Thankfully this time I won't say like, don't want to talk about anything blahblahblah, cause this time I did quite (relatively relative) well. I passed Chinese. 50/100 ftw. Geog and History were ok, Science and English slightly disappointing but nevertheless at least a slightly half-decent score. Maths far surpassed my expectations, and when I say far, I mean really bloody far. Like from here
to here. 67.5/80, when I was desperately hoping for a 58/80. Considering that mid-year I got 24/60 (yeah once I get a better score I don't mind revealing my !@^&^ score), it's a 45% improvement for those mathematically challenged (hahaha see what I did there, mathematically, maths heeheehee).
Past few days haven't been anything much. After EoY came initial joy and freedom and happiness and other adjectives that describe general approval. Then came the post EoY boredom and "sian-ness" and other adjectives that describe a general degeneration of the mind. It is at this point where the path splits into two. One: Sadness and fear and anger at results, due to an extreme lack of marks. Two: Happiness and Joy at extreme high marks.
I've gone in the path of 1.5, between paths one and two (zzz I'm thinking about maths too much) so I'm in a little bit of both moods now, knowing I (could have?) done better but at the same time happy that I achieved my target of GPA 3.2. Once again considering that my mid-year GPA was 2.93 (yes I'm revealing crap scores again) I'd think that 3.2 is a rather realistic target, no?

Ecksploding Printer
Here I am and it's 12 midnight and I'm printing a total of 18 maps and my printer is dying and so is my body. Saturday and Sunday was taken up by FirstClassHike (which was kinda easy TBH) and Monday was IronMan and now I'm tired but I can't sleep until I've finished printing out the 18 sheets. Last one now if I'm not wrong.
Spent about an hour trying to attach a damn 3.45mb doc to my email. Failed miserably with hotmail. Finished attaching in about 5 minutes with Yahoo. Either someone up there controlling the interwebz is screwing around, or yahoo is just better than hotmail.

It's...it's alive!
Yeah.
Long time no update again.
June holidays were nonsense like last year's. But the weekend before school started was taken up by kayaking which I swear is way more awesome than any other course which 01 can send me on.
Started off Saturday with basic intro and logistic shifting and stuff. When we finally got onto the water it basically gives a really weird feeling, like when you're on the go-karts because you have total control of what you do with the boat. Well, not exactly total control because I don't think many of us had control over the boat, but slowly over the hours we eventually gained some measure of skill in maneuvering the kayak. And capsizing at first was rubbish, because you just get panic attacks and panic. The first time I tried it I panicked and got out without doing anything. The second time I didn't panic as much but I got out on the wrong side of the boat. The third time I finally managed to do it. But later on I got out the wrong side of the boat again.
Then school started, (some) new teachers, new timetable (ZZZ IMSER 3 MT LESSONS BEFORE RECESS CONSECUTIVELY FOR 3 DAYS). Got back results, which were disappointing to say the least.
Thus I conclude this post. Look out for another update by the great awesome omg imba me within the next month or so.

Teh Ossum Pwn
It's June holidays.
First week was taken up by AC.
First day of AC was the usual setting up of structure (well the basic structure at least). The rest of the days were just adding on stuff to the structure and doing cool stuff along the way. Haha damn funny.
Kenneth: "get one sec2 per patrol"
*Finds sec 2s*
Kenneth: "are any of you doing anything important now?"
Us: "No"
Kenneth: "okay lets go play captain's ball"
Lol. Owl's structure was so zai. 2 floors, second floor damn cosy, but it's right above our cooking area. So ended up those who are up on top have bits of dirt and shit off their shoes falling into the pots. Hygiene fail.
AC as a sec2 I guess provides a new insight. In sec1 you don't really focus much on the big picture. Just do what you're told and try to ignore the dirty pans and stuff you're cleaning. Try as hard as possible to avoid work and slack. (Oops).
But in sec2 the PL/APL are way more reliant on you, because you're supposed to have the experience and maturity (hohoho) to do all the saikang work and not complain (too much).
Aside from all that, AC was really fun. With owl's fire in the frying pan, kestrel's exploding stove, eagle's foaming structure, hawk's failed tarp on day 1, falcon's one story structure, and KF's flag raising, it really was a new experience.
The rest of the June hols were spent slacking and going to people's house for project meetings (slacking) and more slacking. Well, some work too. I guess. Barely a week more to the start of school.
:(

Moar Updates
Long time no post. heeheehee.
Some big events in the past month.
Mid-years. Frankly, I don't much purpose in having a major set of exams mid year and end of year. The midyear carries so much weightage, if you just screw it up a little you could screw up your entire GPA for the year. Isn't it better to just have little CTs every now and then so that it's not so taxing on the students?
English was okay, Maths was retarded, Chinese was impossible, Science was bleh, Geog was painful on the fingers and history is expected failure. Completely went out of point for the 17 out of 25 total marks essay. Barely mentioned the topic question at all, since I didn't even know what it meant.
Just came back from Malaysian Montage yesterday. Before the trip I didn't understand the hype, but my view has changed, like, completely.
Day1. Assembled at RI at 6:30, then took the coach for like damn long and reached Malacca at 1-2 plus, with customs checks on Singapore/Malaysia checkpoints and toilet stops + breakfast stop along the way. At Malacca we went straight to some kampong village, quite cool, can see the monkey climb tree and throw down coconuts. Also saw the way rubber is collected for our everyday use. Then went and checked in to our hotel, Puteri Resort. Quite a nice place actually, very different from the cheapskate 2star shithole I was expecting.
Day 2. Missed morning call at 5:30 so we woke up at 6:10 instead. Chionged through the usual morning routine then took some damn long bus ride to an ostrich farm. Quite educational, at least learnt a lot about ostriches. And also found out that the bury your head in the sand thing that ostriches supposedly do is false. They don't stick their heads in the sand, they charge at you and kick you and stampede all over you. Apparently their kick exerts 200 pounds per square inch of pressure. So zai.
After that went to the city centre in Malacca. Had lunch there, some chicken rice thingy. Then had some amazing race which was damn boring, took damn long also. Then after that went back to hotel to stone and stuff.
Day 3. Went for some reforestation rubbish which was cut short because of epic thunderstormz then took some damn long bus ride down to Johor. Reached hotel at 3:30 plus, checked in, stoned until 5:30. Took another bus ride to some random place in the middle of nowhere. Had dinner (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RAIN. Actually under some shelter), then took some fireflies river cruise thingy. Damn cool, the fireflies like some Christmas tree, and its actually believable, unlike the glowworm caves in Australia/New Zealand, because there's so damn many glowworms and they don't move at all and you begin to wonder if their actually light bulbs. The lightning in the sky also damn cool. Damn big, some family tree la.
Day 4. Checked out of hotel and went for some coastal trek thing. Quite cool also, then took another damn long bus ride back to Singapore.
Heehee at least I updated. Be. Grateful. You. Retards.

Be. Grateful. You. Retards.

01 Annual Show 2010
Saturday, 24/4/2010, a day where all our efforts were put together in a 2 hour show. Glad to say it was a blast! (:
Assigned the job of VIP usher, so spent 2 hours ushering the scouts and guides who came in the way they weren't supposed to come in from, also nervously waiting for the VIPs, whom some in the end didn't turn up.
When I entered the hall through the gateway the show was getting underway, emcees went through their lines..... when the video failed. Apparently one video cable was screwed so the movie (which explained the storyline) couldn't be played. Fortunately, the emcees improvised brilliantly and acted out the movie instead! It was really nervous sitting behind the VIPs and praying and hoping that the movie could be played, then the emcees came out and started spouting some crap. It took a while for me to realise that there were actually acting out the movie.
Eventually they managed to get the video working again, so the rest of the show passed without a hitch. Then came the souvenirs. Really proud to say that our hard work and effort and staying back almost every day payed off eventually. Hoped that the groups at least appreciated what had gone into each individual souvenir (:

Activity/Batch Outing/Campfire
Heehee. Saturday was awesome. In the morning from 8-1 was campfire preparation which Terence ponned so I had to solo the circus tent frame as well as fix the cage so it doesn't look so shit. If you don't know what I'm talking about and you're from 01 you can see it like on friday-saturday. If you're not from 01 then too bad.
After activity was batch outing which was awsumz (: Waited at the den for everyone to arrive and get in the mood to leave then went to J8 for lunch then went to AMK hub, bought tickets and waited for Edison to come. Watched How To Train Your Dragon which was a fantastic movie. No problems watching it again, no problems giving 5 stars for an awesome movie. Probably one of the best movies I've ever watched.
Once the movie ended we had something to eat then went to Potong Pasir MRT to change into Scout U then went for the St. Andrew's Scouts campfire, which was really good (:
The theme was "Lost?" and their gateway, although not very impressive, fitted the theme really well. The show was great too. Everyone was really enthusiastic even when the sound system failed. The breakdancers were epic pwn. Almost perfect synchro, cool dance moves, etc. Felt it ended a little early though, but great job the the St' Andrew's Scouts!
Hehe, took the circle line back home, not too bad la, not much difference from the regular MRT.
EXCEPT today, where it took 8 minutes from Paya Lebar to Macpherson, which is 1 stop. Cause train travel damn slowly, stop for 1 minute, then go again, got some stupid delay because of some stupid track fault. Although I suppose I can't blame them since it's really new.

Hypocrites
You know when you were young (or for some, even now), your parents always said how they want their kids to have moral values, to be generous, to be kind, to be compassionate, to be giving.
Yet parents don't even display these values in their everyday life, they don't show their children the way to uphold these so called, "values" that they want their children to have.
What's the point of a mother telling her son, "You should be compassionate and generous", yet when walking along the street, ignores the desperately hungry beggar?
Take for example a family I came across at the MRT. The parents and two kids. An old beggar behind the railing on the steps. A glance of disapproval, a glance of distaste, then carrying on walking as though the beggar didn't exist.
I donate to that old man whenever I can. That day, all I had in my wallet was 50c, but I gave that to him.
*edit*
Offensive to some people, so I cut out 2/3 of this post.

Hmm
It's April. It only just vaguely registered.
This probably shows the degeneration of my brain or something. Like how I just finished 4 consecutive books of Garfield in 2 days. Yes, you read that right, Garfield, the fat cat who has been such a world-wide success. See? I'm even advertising a children's book.
Anyway, I have decided to post at least twice a month, so yeah.

March......Holidays? Right.
Yeah, I'm still updating.
March holidays passed in a blur. It was a 9 day holiday, including the weekend. Felt like 2 days actually.
Jobweek was once again bloody retarded. Once again I failed the batch target. I didn't even reach half of it. Makes me jealous of everyone else with that mountain of notes and coins.
SUTC. I suppose before the camp I was quite excited about skipping the third day but strangely enough, when I left the den to get my bag I didn't really feel at all that happy.
Quick summary of events during SUTC:
Day 1
horseshoe
pumping
inspection (which sucked as usual)
flag break
-ABSENCE OF PT-
first aid teaching
lunch
stuff which i can't remember
footdrill
flag lowering
dinner
night orienteering (yeah we got second because we're just too pro)
SENTRY FTW
Oh and something really spastic happened on that night. We were all randoming around during sentry and then it started raining so we threw our bags into the shelter and I ran around the tents zipping them up and shoving shoes and uniforms under and into the tents respectively. So it sucked because I got wet and it sucked more cause I was too tired to go and change so I stayed wet for the rest of the day.
Day 2
horseshoe
PT (WHICH SUCKED)
breakfast
SOC
some survival thing which turned into 600+ clearing
lunch
SRITs
footdrill
flag lowering
dinner
go home feeling guilty about going home so early.
Yeah, so after that was Wednesday, which was the RE seminar which was the reason why we had to skip the last day, Thursday was (well deserved) rest and recuperation, friday was go to school to do some spastic compre then go for dentist, saturday was more R-R, sat night was falling sick, sunday sucked, Monday no school because of a 2 day MC for my fever + flu.
On a side note, I still have my bruise from like 10 days ago as mentioned in my previous post.

Updates
No, I'm not dead. Yes, I'm still alive.
Just a few quick updates. Tomorrow's Job Week (aka walk around and die week) and after that is SUTC (aka die). Feeling quite nervous about it, but I'm going home at 7am on the third day to skip 5 hours of the last part of it :) which of course, is the most "fun" part. I would have to go for some RE seminar. Lol.
On a side note, I banged my shin really really hard today while playing soccer and I can't walk properly so I'm not sure how I'm going to do Job Week tomorrow.

Happy CNY
Yeah. A bit late, I know. But still.
This is another one of "those" posts. So skip if you feel like it. Frankly, I don't actually care that much. I'm not in much of a position to anyway. (BTW 1K VIEWS ON THIS BLOG WHOOHOO ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED)
Basic review of this year. More high hopes and expectations, but yet more disappointments and failures. Literally. And then there's this person who seems to think that everything I do is wrong and he's superior in every way. I won't actually name this person, and I'm not going to reveal it, but let's just say I've mentioned him before.
And you're just such a smug arrogant irritating little bitch. Everything you do is better, you're smarter, you're superior in every damn way. You call me fail and laugh. Maybe it's just a sign that you're what, trying to assert yourself? Boosting your ego at the expense of someone else's?
I don't think you actually realise it's affecting me in more ways than you think. Sure, I ignore it and sometimes reply with the usual humour and everything, but I think you've crossed the line. Especially today.
I may have gotten a demerit point and I probably deserve it, but I don't think another regular decent person with no self-boosting-egoistic ideals would put me down even further. You look at me and smile and say, "fail". And within me I'm containing this burning urge to just punch you really hard in the face and possibly break your bloody nose.
So yeah, rant over.
Happy CNY all.

Stuff
Long time no post.
Didn't go to school yesterday because of another big-ass headache plus cough and cold and stuff that makes me feel like shit. Then today had a lol-the-ground-is-shaking-is-it-an-earthquake headache. Which isn't nice.
First month of school has been blah. Usual random crap, new topics, new everything. And yeah, it's fun to see the new sec1s blur-blur and everything and when walking past them act really mature and cool. It's also nice to see that they are also better than the sec 2 batch in soccer.

2010
Well. It's 2010 now, a new decade, a new........year.
I have 2 New Year resolutions.
1) To have 2 newyearresolutions
2) To keep to the 2 new year resolutions.
On a slightly more serious note, its kind of funny to watch the sec1s and imagine us like them just a year ago. Makes you think about how fast 365 days have passed.
